America Is Everywhere

Halloween, Apple and Benjamin Franklin are all terms, brands and names that are known all around the world. It is no doubt that the Americanisation has taken over the world and the American culture is definitely the most widespread culture of all. But by acknowledging that fact it is very important to look at the effects of Americanisation and the pros and cons that are caused by such a global culture.

First of all, the Americanisation is undoubtedly the most present culture, which is a kind of controversial fact. On the one hand, it enhances the cultures and traditions of other countries and boost the individual’s lives with new inventions and festivals. Hence, everyone around the world knows those special days and events and is keen on celebrating together. Those occasions bring fun and variety into their lives and are a new and revolutionary contrast to dull traditional festivals. On the other hand, such a global trend can displace the beloved traditions and makes them fall into oblivion. And that cannot be the final solution in some people’s eyes, because after all most people are proud of their origin and their culture and replacing that by a global culture would mean taking away a part of their lives which they rejoice at.

Secondly, when mentioning the Americanisation, most people think of the US, which is absolutely legit, because the US is a huge part of the widespread global culture and a replica of the world. The most iconic examples would be Starbucks and Mc Donald’s, two of the best– known coffee and fast- food chains world-wide. Therefore, it is definitely no surprise that teenagers tend to meet up in front of “MC” or get themselves something to drink from “overpriced Starbucks”. Furthermore, annual celebrated parties such as Halloween and Christmas with Santa Claus are typical festivals, which are celebrated almost all around the world. Those would be unimaginable without the American flare.

As a result of Americanisation, Europe has definitely taken over many trends and festivals and the American culture has clearly been merged with the European one. It is no doubt that the Europeans have integrated the American lifestyle in their everyday lives. Be it with culinary delight, for example burgers with curly fries or bagels which are available in almost every restaurant and bakery. In addition, sweets such as SMores, which are a must around the campfire and brownies, which go perfectly with vanilla ice cream are a hit. Moreover, candy such as nerds, jellybeans and skittles are loved by every child and available at every kiosk.

In conclusion, the Americanisation is a present phenomenon, which has influenced the whole world. Be it with festivals, sweets or new traditions everyone loves and celebrates those treats and events. But on the contrary, the population must not forget their origin and most importantly, the old cultural traditions which are often replaced by new American ones.
